Unicoi Systems Delivers Embedded Industry's IPv6 Solution

Dual-Mode IPv4/v6 Stack Now Available

Generic Unicoi IconATLANTA, GEORGIA – December 6, 2005 – Unicoi Systems, Inc. today announced the release of Fusion Net IPv6, a suite of next-generation protocols for the Internet designed specifically for embedded systems, including SIP and RTP for supporting VoIP on IPv6.

IPv6 is a suite of standard protocols for the network layer of the Internet designed for embedded systems. IPv6 solves the internet scaling problem and supports the rapid proliferation of IP-enabled devices used in the consumer electronics, communications and entertainment industries. IPv6 provides a platform for next-generation Internet functionality including support for real-time flows, provider selection, host mobility and end-to-end security.

Based on the world's most widely deployed stack—Unicoi Net Fusion IPv4—Fusion Net IPv6 fully supports all of the existing Fusion Net IPv4 features including zero-copy, flexible device driver support and operating system as well as compiler and processor independence. Fusion Net IPv4/IPv6 was designed to run as a dual mode stack. Fusion Net IPv6 was developed from the ground up using the same design principles as Fusion Net IPv4, so it is fully integrated with the Fusion Net IPv4 stack and uses no open source. Unicoi Fusion Net IPv6 was designed to run well on high performance networks (Gigabit Ethernet, OC-12, ATM, etc.) and still be efficient for wireless networks. IPv6 includes support for embedded IPv4 addresses to support transition and compatibility with IPv4 and to allow for a gradual and piecemeal deployment with a minimum of dependencies. IPv6 also supports large hierarchical and anycast addresses.

“Now the embedded device market has the Internet scaling solution it needs: With Unicoi Fusion Net IPv6, developers can reduce design cycle time and speed time to market with products that are differentiated by richer feature sets because Unicoi provides the groundwork”, said Greg Coonley, CEO of Unicoi Systems, Inc.

Fusion IPv6 Features

Features include support for redundant IPv6 and IPv4 routing with fail-over, full support for development not only of IPv6 hosts, but also IPv6 routers and privacy and security enhancement through generation of temporary addresses. Fusion Net IPv6 delivers high performance with IPv6 (and IPv4) destination address caches and efficient representation and manipulation of IPv6 addresses using 32-bit arithmetic on current generation processors and 64-bit arithmetic when supported by the target system. Powerful source and destination selection algorithms that support multi-homed IPv6 interfaces and multiple on-link IPv6 prefixes are also provided by Fusion IPv6.
